TYPE B: NEMA 5-15 (American 3-pin) Flat blades (same as type A), but with round grounding pin
This plug adapter changes the shape of an appliance's plug so that can plug into a "Type B" North American NEMA 5-15 or Japanese JIS C 8303 Class I Grounded socket. The receptacle end of the adapter can accept any standard household plug type from any country, except the "Type M" South African SABS1661 (Old British BS-546 "Large") plug. The plug end is a "Type B" North American NEMA 5-15 plug. The adapter's blade contacts are 6.4mm tall, 1.5mm thick, and are spaced 12.7mm apart. The grounding pin is 4.8mm in diameter. The plug is grounded but not polarized, which can be very important.
The Type B electrical plug has two flat parallel blades like the Type A, but also has a round grounding or earth pin that grounds the device before the power is connected. The neutral blade is wider than the live blade to ensure proper insertion.
The technical name for the Type B is NEMA 5-15 (North American 15 A/125 V ground ed). It is also called the North American 3-pin. The ground pin is longer than the live and neutral blades, so the device is grounded before the power is connected. The Type B outlet has a ground at the bottom, the neutral slot to the left, and the live slot to the right. This outlet can also be installed with the ground at the top or to either side. Japan also uses a Type B similar to the North American, but it is less common than the Type A equivalent.
How it's used:
Attach a plug adapter to the power cord of any electrical appliance which is already compatible with the voltage being supplied by the socket. The adapter changes the shape and configuration of the electrical contacts, allowing you to plug into a different kind of socket.
Or, if you prefer to think of it this way, plug the adapter into an electrical socket to enable the socket to accept almost any worldwide household plug (as long as the appliance is already compatible with the voltage being supplied by the socket.) Adapters aren't built for permanent installation though, and it's not a good idea to leave the adapter plugged into the socket indefinitely. They can remain plugged in for long periods of time, but they're not intended to be permanently installed.
Caution:
- It does not perform voltage step-up or step-down conversion between 125V and 250V;
- When use, please check and ensure your electronics apparatus can work with the local voltage;
- You may use this product when the indicatore of the common charger shows it adapts 100V-240V;
- For your children safety, please keep this product properly when it is not in use.
